Job Security Fears - Become A Travel Nurse

October 25th, 2008

In a day when companies are layin off employees and cutting back on staff, there is one group that actually has the luxury of picking and choosing where they work and when they work.  Travel nurses can select where they want to work next and when they want to start. Not only that they are paid very well and usually are offered such extras as immediate insurance coverage, travel expenses, housing allowances and in some cases even a car allowance. How many other job sectors can offer that.

One of the things that makes travel nursing so appealing is the ability to choose when you want to work. If you want to take a couple months off during the summer to enjoy the beach or to travel then you can select your travel nurse contract for the winter, spring and fall months. The opposite is true for the winter season. If you are an avid skier then work your travel nurse schedule so you have winter months off and hit the slopes. Your pay as a travel nurse will be good enough that you can save enough to live on while you take a break and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

So if you are a nurse and you seek a different schedule with great benefits, consider becoming a travel nursing professional and structure your life around what you like to do and when you like to do it.
